Finding Grace in the Menopause Chaos: A Gratitude Post to the Women Who Inspired Gentle Progress

If I look back over the last few years, the biggest lesson I’ve learned didn't come from a textbook or a scientific study—it came from observing the incredible women in my life sharing their true experiences. This revelation led me to the philosophy I now share with you.


This isn’t just a thank you; it’s a commitment to the philosophy that we deserve kindness, especially while navigating perimenopause and menopause.


The Invisible Load: When Juggling Becomes Jousting


To be a woman navigating perimenopause or menopause is to be an expert in carrying the invisible load. We are juggling everything: demanding jobs that require our mental acuity, the children who still need us, the financial anxieties, the maintenance of the home, the demands of aging parents, and, perhaps most profoundly, the awareness of our own aging bodies.


We are navigating hot flashes, brain fog, and shifting metabolisms—all while showing up as the glue that holds everything else together. It can make us feel utterly invisible. 


When we finally look in the mirror, the physical shifts only add to the pressure.


And then, amid all this chaos, we’re told we need to change our entire diet.


Strictness Creates Crisis: Embracing Gentle Progress


In a world demanding endless "push," the wellness industry often meets us with another impossible demand: discipline, restriction, and all-or-nothing diets. When you’re already holding the weight of the world, demanding yourself to cut out entire food groups or commit to a punishing gym schedule isn't supportive—it’s just another form of self-sabotage. It creates a crisis. We do not fail because we are weak, but because our cup is already overflowing.


This crisis led me to create Gentle Progress (GP).

Gentle Progress is the promise that you can achieve high standards for health and strength—without the pressure of perfection.

Our approach moving forward is twofold:

  1. Ambitious Support: We maintain high goals (like high protein and strength training) because we deserve to feel and look amazing.

  2. Low-Friction Implementation: We achieve those goals through small, non-judgmental, sustainable actions that fit into your already full life. We change the environment, not the person.


The Gift of Reflection: Celebrating the Women Who Built This Journey


The truth is, Gentle Progress was born out of profound respect for the women who allowed me into their struggles. I listened to them share their deep ambitions: their desire to reclaim their energy, their drive to be strong, and their genuine effort to "get it right."


It was in reflecting on their shared experiences and challenges—that I realized the solution wasn't more discipline; it was more grace.


I must pause to thank the specific women who moved this from a personal philosophy to a supportive community: Thank you to those who helped shape the identity of Protein Pixie, giving this vision a voice and a "look". And thank you to the women who have helped me return to my own passions, like running outside again, proving that our bodies are resilient, not broken.


This framework was synthesized because I knew, based on their lives, that the traditional system was actively setting them up to fail.


Finally, none of this strategic work would be possible without the incredible support I receive at home. That stable, loving base is the absolute non-negotiable anchor that allows me to show up for myself and for this community.

A Call to Rest and Reflect


When the intensity of rushing around for the holidays begins to subside, let us make a powerful, collective decision: Our holiday gift to ourselves is rest and repair.


Let go of the January detoxes and the calorie-cutting frenzy. Use the calm between Christmas and the New Year not for rigorous planning, but for deep, restorative reflection.


When all the rushing around is done, take a quiet moment and ask yourself:

  • What do I truly want for myself in the new year? (Not what society wants, but you).

  • What is one small, gentle habit that would make my life easier? (Is it a glass of water first thing? Is it one protein-anchored meal a day?)


Let the new year start from a place of support and gratitude, built upon the foundation of kindness—the kindness we deserve, and the kindness we built together.
